  Dr. Lakshmi Narayan Satapathy

Profile:
The corresponding author, Dr. Lakshmi Narayan Satapathy, completed his M.Sc. (Chemistry) in 1989 and his M.Tech. (Materials Science) in 1991, both from IIT, Bombay. He completed his PGDEE from IIEE, New Delhi in 1996, his MBA from IGNOU, New Delhi in 1998 and his Ph.D. (Engineering) from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore in 2003. He is currently serving at Ceramic Technological Institute of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Bangalore, India as Dy. General Manager with 20 years of professional experience. He is credited for leading the team at BHEL to build the first indigenous largevolume microwave processing system in India in 2009. The system can dry 1 MT of ceramic components up to 2.3 m long. Another large-scale microwave sintering system is used for processing large volumes of special ceramic products at 1600 °C and above. His other research interests are the development of heat transfer nanofluids and low-temperature processing of commercial ceramic components. He has guided many students, delivered invited lectures in many conferences and organized many national and international seminars/ workshops. Dr. Satapathy has received recognition worldwide for his research and development of ceramic materials. He was a UNIDO Fellow of Alfred University, USA (1993) and a BOYSCAST Fellow of Penn State, USA (2004). He was elected a Fellow of the Indian Institute of Ceramics in 2009. He has published more than 40 peer- reviewed papers in international journals and filed 15 patents. He is a member of the editorial board of Transactions of the Indian Ceramic Society, International Journal of Materials Engineering and a reviewer for many international ceramic journals. Dr. Satapathy is a life Member of the Indian Ceramic Society, the Materials Research Society of India, the IIT Bombay Alumni Association and the Indian Institute of Science Alumni Association.
